The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Dolphins walked right past. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Magee. The Rogers reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Chop Robinson in the Round 1 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Cooper Beebe is a better player than slot 55 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A quiet steal in the 158th overall pick: Ainias Smith for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A slide stopped in the 169th pick, with Sione Vaki worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They paid up for Justin Rogers at Round 6, Pick 9 when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Trente Jones at pick No. 198 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 241 is the definition of value, full stop. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
