Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Raiders spent slot 185 on Patrick Payton, a name most had 72 spots down the list. It nets out a thoroughly average C.

They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Everette.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
