It is the swing that defines the weekend: Dominic Zvada in No. 241, a good 60 spots before the room expected him. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Getting Washington Jr. where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 10 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Nothing to complain about; Jake Slaughter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Josiah Trotter in the 60th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Mike Washington Jr. at No. 89 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Tyreak Sapp in slot 106 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Robert Spears-Jennings at the 239th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A wild overpay on Dominic Zvada in pick No. 241, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
