You could see the war room lean forward. Dontay Corleone at No. 86 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The Altmyer pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Bottom line, with Makai Lemon leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 21 they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
D'Angelo Ponds at pick No. 53 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A.J. Haulcy in pick 54 lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dontay Corleone in pick No. 86 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A wild overpay on Beau Stephens in Round 4, Pick 35, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Kevin Coleman Jr., a quiet win that adds up over a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Luke Altmyer this early at the 216th pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
