The Cowboys torched the value chart for Harold Perkins Jr., taking him 121 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
In Round 1, Pick 26 they get an island corner, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A wild overpay on Reggie Virgil in No. 112, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jude Bowry. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr at slot 152 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They did well to land Aamil Wagner in pick 177, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Zane Durant at par in Round 5, Pick 40, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Taylen Green in pick 182, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Thaddeus Dixon in pick No. 218 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
