Thirty-one other rooms let Jonah Monheim slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at the 220th pick. Highway robbery.
The Pegues reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th pick they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Quinshon Judkins in Round 3, Pick 5 is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Jalen Royals in No. 77 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
By-the-book stuff, Azareye'h Thomas at the 104th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take JJ Pegues this early at pick No. 143. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Value said wait; Kaden Prather in slot 217 says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jonah Monheim in the 220th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It fills a real need, too.
Jake Briningstool at Round 7, Pick 22 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
