When a board-topper like Emani Bailey slides to No. 246, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Hunt pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with quarterback and interior defensive lineman still on the board. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
They took Kamren Kinchens at par in pick 34, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Nothing to complain about; Chop Robinson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Kingsley Suamataia at Round 2, Pick 25 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They will replay Ja'Tavion Sanders at pick No. 88 for years; that is how good the value is. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value with a capital V on Cooper Beebe in the Round 3 slot, a genuine coup. A need, and now a little less of one.
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jalyx Hunt adds a S-EDGE and leaves quarterback and interior defensive lineman untouched.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaylen Wright in No. 165. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in the 168th pick, with Jaylin Simpson worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A quiet steal in Round 6, Pick 27: Ethan Driskell for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Proctor at slot 203 is the proof. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
They let De'Corian Clark come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Brevyn Spann-Ford at pick 229 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Mark Perry in pick No. 243 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Emani Bailey in No. 246 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They jumped the gun on Eric Gentry, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
