Whoever sat across the table from the Eagles should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. That McCormick pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
The Eagles indulged a want in Trotter Jr. while a need in edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots stayed open.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 22 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Payton Wilson at the 50th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A want over a need in the 53rd overall pick: Jeremiah Trotter Jr. adds a linebacker while edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots keeps waiting.
Zak Zinter in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Jarrian Jones is a better player than slot 160 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
AJ Barner slipping to pick 170 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 178th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They did well to land Myles Harden in the 189th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
