Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Giants never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.
If Nugent pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The Milton Williams deal gives the class an established piece to lean on. On the needs board they went 7 of 9, with safety the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. The biggest hole, addressed.
A straight-up fair deal on Darius Robinson at Round 2, Pick 7, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kamren Kinchens at the 50th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Legette in slot 70; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid up for Spencer Rattler at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They went early on Dylan Laube in the 140th overall pick, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
By-the-book stuff, Isaac Guerendo at pick 171 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Drake Nugent at Round 6, Pick 10 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
