The Ephesians Prysock selection is the head-turner. The Steelers reached 52 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They banked enough surplus on Allen to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.21 · Pick 53 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 35
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Dillon Thieneman in No. 53, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.31 · Pick 63 · CJ Allen · LB · rank 31
CJ Allen in pick No. 63 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Christen Miller · DL · rank 56
Christen Miller at slot 76 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R3.21 · Pick 85 · Germie Bernard · WR · rank 58
Germie Bernard in the 85th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R3.35 · Pick 99 · Chase Bisontis · OG · rank 70
Chase Bisontis in Round 3, Pick 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Ephesians Prysock · CB · rank 187
They reached a country mile for Ephesians Prysock at pick 135, and the board is aghast. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.21 · Pick 161 · Nate Boerkircher · TE · rank 160
They paid sticker price for Nate Boerkircher in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.22 · Pick 203 · Domani Jackson · CB · rank 174
They robbed the room for Domani Jackson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.35 · Pick 216 · Zavion Thomas · WR · rank 219
No edge and no loss on Zavion Thomas in slot 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
R7.14 · Pick 230 · Isaiah Jatta · OT · rank 241
Isaiah Jatta at Round 7, Pick 14 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
R7.21 · Pick 237 · Robert Spears-Jennings · S · rank 254
They liked Robert Spears-Jennings enough to skip the value, taking him in the 237th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.30 · Pick 246 · Trey Zuhn III · OT · rank 243
Trey Zuhn III in pick 246 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
R7.41 · Pick 257 · Enrique Cruz Jr. · OT · rank 292
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Enrique Cruz Jr.. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
