The Cowboys spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Deone Walker, the No. 65 name on the board, in Round 5, Pick 11. Just about everything broke right, and the A follows.
The Hassanein reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want.
In the end it comes back to Shavon Revel Jr., and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Shavon Revel Jr. at No. 34 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A safety of that caliber at slot 44 is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 76 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Deone Walker all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Tommi Hill come to them and pounced at the 171st overall pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ahmed Hassanein. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Karene Reid. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pat Bryant at pick 211 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
You do not let a tight end like Oronde Gadsden II reach slot 239 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jaylen Reed in Round 7, Pick 30 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Addison West at the 247th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
