The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Patriots reached some 55 spots for Andrew Armstrong, and value like that does not grow back.
Jones Jr. falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 4 they get an every-down engine for the run game at fair value.
Kenneth Grant slipping to Round 2, Pick 6 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They let Demetrius Knight Jr. come to them and pounced at pick No. 69. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They did well to land Omarr Norman-Lott in the 77th pick, just ahead of his grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They liked Anthony Belton enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 105. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Steal is underselling it; Emery Jones Jr. at the Round 5 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It fills a real need, too.
Andrew Armstrong in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A real head-scratcher, Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in No. 222 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Jalen Travis. A need, and now a little less of one.
