This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Myles Harden, the No. 184 name on the board, stolen at slot 222.
Sinnott has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The phones were where this weekend was really won.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th pick they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
In the 27th overall pick they get an anchor for the offensive line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They jumped the gun on J.J. McCarthy, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Troy Franklin at pick No. 36 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid sticker price for Chris Braswell in pick 40, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They paid up for Cooper Beebe at No. 67 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Ben Sinnott at the Round 3 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Christian Mahogany in Round 4, Pick 2. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A straight-up fair deal on Beau Brade at the 139th pick, value and slot in agreement. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 4, where Isaiah Davis graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A cornerback of that caliber at pick 222 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
