The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Woody Marks, the No. 184 name on the board, in the 238th pick.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Jackson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. A clean fit for the roster.
Donovan Jackson at pick 61 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Ozzy Trapilo at slot 79 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Darius Alexander all the way to the 148th pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Upton Stout in pick No. 207 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor itch, scratched.
Circle this one: Woody Marks at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Taking LaJohntay Wester in No. 250 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
