Boards are made to be trusted, and the Lions shredded theirs for Nick Barrett. He came off 38 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The dealing was even money, start to finish.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 20 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Need was not the driver here.
Value with a capital V on Anthony Hill Jr. in slot 50, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Bud Clark in No. 112. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Logan Jones at pick No. 118 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Value said wait; Max Llewellyn in the 128th overall pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Seth McGowan in the 157th pick, miles early. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Ar'maj Reed-Adams is a better player than No. 181 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Toriano Pride Jr. in Round 6, Pick 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nick Barrett well ahead of where he belonged. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Nwokobia at the 222nd pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
