The war room fell hard for Braiden McGregor, and it showed at Round 4, Pick 10: 88 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D- is the result.
The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. The whole projection now runs through Jayden Daniels; hit there and everything else looks smarter.
They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Clark.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 9th overall pick they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In pick 24 they get a potential shutdown corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in Round 2, Pick 24, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
The board had Blake Corum higher than the 87th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value said wait; Braiden McGregor in No. 110 says they were not listening. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
The board had cheaper options than Beaux Limmer at the Round 4 slot, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A real head-scratcher, Zion Logue in pick No. 174 is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
De'Corian Clark slipping to slot 212 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, McKade Mettauer well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
