The Mark Perry pick is the one that will follow the Chiefs into the fall. They took him 84 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a weapon on the perimeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kiran Amegadjie at Round 2, Pick 32 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Mahogany at the 95th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They jumped the gun on Nehemiah Pritchett, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Curtis Jacobs at the 159th overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Myles Cole in No. 173 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
