Start where it matters. The Vikings took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Whittington proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Fair-plus on DeWayne Carter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Jarrian Jones in the 129th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
No drama and no debate, Dwight McGlothern went about where he belonged in No. 157. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
By-the-book stuff, Javion Cohen at the Round 5 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Grayson Murphy at pick 177 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Tatum Bethune at slot 230 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
They paid up for Jordan Whittington at pick No. 232 when waiting would have done the job. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
