The search is over. The Dolphins handed the keys to J.J. McCarthy, and the whole operation now runs on his development.
However the rest shakes out, Adams at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 21 they get their guy under center for the next decade. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Chris Braswell, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Josh Newton in the 125th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Isaiah Adams at pick 158 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They took Jordan Jefferson at par in pick No. 184, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cornelius Johnson is a better player than slot 198 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A tidy little value on Dominique Hampton in the 241st overall pick, a step better than break-even. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
