The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Theo Johnson, 67 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Jayden Daniels gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The Pearl steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 2 they get a passer to set the clock by. The biggest hole, addressed.
In pick No. 21 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A real need, handled.
Value said wait; Braden Fiske in the 36th overall pick says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They talked themselves into Theo Johnson at Round 2, Pick 23, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Fair-plus on Khyree Jackson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cornelius Johnson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 198 is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
Julian Pearl at Round 7, Pick 21 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A need, and now a little less of one.
