The Giants spent the pick that matters most on J.J. McCarthy, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Every board in the league had McCarthy lower, and that gap is the story. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. The Suamataia steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 6 they get a long-term answer under center, a steep price for the projection.
A tidy little value on Chop Robinson in the Round 2 slot, a step better than break-even. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kalen King in slot 47 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Kingsley Suamataia at Round 3, Pick 6 is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 119 with a little surplus value in DJ James. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cedric Gray in pick 140. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Nothing to complain about; Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Barrett at the 185th pick, value and slot in agreement. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
