The Rams bet big and early on Jude Bowry, 30 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Landing Dixon that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. More want than need.
Good price on Omar Cooper Jr. in the 61st overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jude Bowry in the 93rd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A slide stopped in the Round 6 slot, with VJ Payne worth more than the price. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Thaddeus Dixon in No. 232 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Josh Cuevas in pick No. 251 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They let Luke Altmyer come to them and pounced at No. 252. A need, and now a little less of one.
