Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The 49ers never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Endries pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If Parker II pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 27 they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They let Jake Slaughter come to them and pounced at pick 63. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Brian Parker II at the Round 3 slot, and it noticed. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Julian Neal at slot 127 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jack Endries at the 133rd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Harold Perkins Jr. at the 139th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the linebacker. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
