Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Trajan Jeffcoat at pick 255 is 48 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Proctor. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get a plug-and-play piece up front. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Haynes. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Matt Goncalves at the 89th overall pick, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint this early at Round 5, Pick 37. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A tidy bit of business in the 209th pick, where Jaylan Ford graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
No edge and no loss on Michael Barrett in slot 213; it is a wash and a sensible one. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Edefuan Ulofoshio at slot 215 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Sheridan Jones at the 231st pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Josh Proctor at the 242nd overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Jalen Green at pick 244 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A real head-scratcher, Trajan Jeffcoat in pick No. 255 is miles ahead of his ranking. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
