The Erick All pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 60 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so.

With edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · JC Latham · OT · rank 16
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Kris Abrams-Draine · CB · rank 36
Fair-plus on Kris Abrams-Draine, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R2.23 · Pick 55 · J.J. McCarthy · QB · rank 44
A quiet steal in the 55th overall pick: J.J. McCarthy for less than the market said. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.11 · Pick 75 · Rod Moore · S · rank 81
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Rod Moore. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.18 · Pick 82 · Caelen Carson · CB · rank 76
A clean, defensible pick in pick 82 with a little surplus value in Caelen Carson. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.24 · Pick 87 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 87
No edge and no loss on Christian Mahogany in pick No. 87; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.11 · Pick 111 · Beau Brade · S · rank 114
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Beau Brade while clear needs at edge rusher, wide receiver and other spots sat open.
R4.23 · Pick 123 · Junior Colson · LB · rank 120
Good price on Junior Colson in Round 4, Pick 23, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R4.35 · Pick 135 · Isaiah Adams · OT · rank 142
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Adams at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R6.14 · Pick 189 · Cody Schrader · RB · rank 177
Cody Schrader is a better player than slot 189 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.36 · Pick 211 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 254
Frank Gore Jr. in pick No. 211 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.42 · Pick 217 · Delmar Glaze · C · rank 239
A big swing on Delmar Glaze at pick 217, well ahead of any board in the building. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Willie Roberts · CB · rank 207
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Willie Roberts in the 219th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.12 · Pick 232 · Erick All · TE · rank 292
Erick All at the 232nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
