Nobody had Spencer Rattler this high, and it is not close. The Giants reached 75 spots to get him at the 44th overall pick. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster. They went 8 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They reached into another round for Spencer Rattler, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A reach for Christian Haynes in Round 2, Pick 15; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Javon Bullard at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Trey Benson at No. 76 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Mohamed Kamara in slot 94, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Isaac Guerendo at the 107th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.

James Williams at the 131st overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid a round early for Brennan Jackson in slot 141, more than the board wanted. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Jordan Jefferson went about where he belonged in pick No. 183. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at pick 203 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Taulia Tagovailoa this early at the 238th pick. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They paid sticker price for Jordan Whittington in slot 247, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
