Call it larceny. Sonny Styles sat on the board until No. 202, and the Commanders did not need to be asked twice. More right than wrong, and a B to match.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 26 they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
A clean, defensible pick in the 59th pick with a little surplus value in Dylan Fairchild. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach the Round 3 slot and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid sticker price for Jaylin Noel in No. 146, and that is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Sonny Styles in pick No. 202, plain and simple. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Ollie Gordon II in the 235th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They will replay Jack Kiser at pick 246 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
