The Eagles did not so much draft Jaylin Noel as overpay for him, 68 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through cornerback. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Hit on Luke Lachey and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a seam-stretching tight end, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Danny Stutsman at the 57th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A reach on Jalon Daniels in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jaylin Noel in pick 153 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Power Echols well ahead of where he belonged. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
No edge and no loss on Traeshon Holden in pick No. 206; it is a wash and a sensible one. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They jumped the gun on Nolan Rucci, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
