You can draft well and still miss the point. The Cowboys did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.
If Paul pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 24th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They paid up for Patrick Paul at the 56th pick when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
No edge and no loss on Blake Corum in slot 87; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
