They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: LaDarius Henderson, 24 picks early at the 135th pick. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
Spending an early pick on safety with quarterback, wide receiver and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 32nd overall pick they get an enforcer at safety. Need was not the driver here.
A straight-up fair deal on Kris Jenkins at No. 41, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in slot 57. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Mike Sainristil in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Bucky Irving in pick No. 92 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They bypassed pressing needs at quarterback, wide receiver and other spots to take Jaden Hicks, a safety that was not the priority.
Nothing to complain about; Jarrian Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
LaDarius Henderson at slot 135 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
