The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Patriots spent their marquee pick on Jayden Daniels, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.
Every board in the league had Okie-Anoma lower, and that gap is the story. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The Liufau pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 6 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Amarius Mims at pick 34 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A reach for Xavier Worthy in No. 47; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Brenden Rice at Round 3, Pick 4 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, Ben Sinnott in the Round 4 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
They paid sticker price for Roger Rosengarten in slot 137, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value with a capital V on Marist Liufau in the 180th pick, a genuine coup. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A premium they did not need to pay, Jaylan Ford a notch or two before his time. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Eyabi Okie-Anoma this early at the 231st pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
