The Chargers ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Add it all up and it grades out a clean A-.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Coleman where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
In the end it comes back to Joe Alt, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 8 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Value with a capital V on Keon Coleman in the 37th pick, a genuine coup. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Brenden Rice in slot 70 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
No edge and no loss on Audric Estime in pick No. 97; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They paid sticker price for Dallin Holker in Round 5, Pick 6, and that is fine. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Darius Muasau in the 244th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
