The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Daniels, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
Reaching for Jean-Baptiste left real value on the table behind him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through running back. That is a tight end worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get their quarterback of the future. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Quinyon Mitchell in pick 23 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Maason Smith at pick No. 108 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Trevor Keegan at Round 4, Pick 29 is a conviction pick that outran the value. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Tahj Washington at slot 157 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Javontae Jean-Baptiste at the Round 5 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jared Wiley at the 177th pick is the proof. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
They went early on Donovan Jennings in the 230th overall pick, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Josh Proctor in pick 232 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
