This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Sebastian Castro, the No. 89 name on the board, stolen at No. 149. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They punted on cornerback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Von Miller gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Bottom line, with Ashton Jeanty leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 15th overall pick they get a lead back with juice at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy bit of business in Round 2, Pick 24, where Jihaad Campbell graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jalen Royals at slot 76 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They robbed the room for Sebastian Castro here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A running back of that caliber at pick 171 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Tyler Shough in the 174th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Somehow Jack Nelson was still sitting there in No. 204, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nazir Stackhouse at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Luke Lachey at the 239th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Donovan Edwards in the Round 7 slot, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
