Thirty-one other rooms let Cam Skattebo slide, and the Commanders were the ones holding the card at pick 246. Highway robbery.
The Dellinger reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 28th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
A safety of that caliber at the 59th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Darien Porter at pick No. 79 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
TreVeyon Henderson at slot 97 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Deontae Lawson in pick 146 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Seth McLaughlin in No. 202 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A real head-scratcher, Garrett Dellinger in Round 7, Pick 19 is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Circle this one: Cam Skattebo at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
