· 7 picks
· 5 steals
· 1 reaches
The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Commanders reached some 150 spots for Akheem Mesidor, and value like that does not grow back.
The Fitzgerald pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 29 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
A quiet steal in pick 61: Tre Harris for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jackson at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Quinshon Judkins here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Somehow Jaylen Reed was still sitting there in No. 207, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Value said wait; Akheem Mesidor in Round 7, Pick 20 says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Ryan Fitzgerald in pick No. 250 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
