Somebody in the Round 6 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Commanders sat still while Danny Stutsman, the No. 86 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
The tight end spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Dellinger lower, and that gap is the story.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
A clean, defensible pick in Round 1, Pick 27 with a little surplus value in Josh Simmons. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jalon Walker in pick 60 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They paid up for Tez Johnson at slot 79 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled Quinshon Judkins all the way to pick No. 146, and they scooped it up. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Danny Stutsman at the Round 6 slot is a fall that decides a draft. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
They will replay Seth McLaughlin at the 236th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A reach on Garrett Dellinger in the 246th pick; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
