There is reaching, and then there is Tyler Batty at the 203rd overall pick. The Commanders jumped the board by 93 and dared it to prove them wrong. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Getting Henderson where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a true top target. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Zy Alexander went about where he belonged in pick No. 61. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A real head-scratcher, Emery Jones Jr. in the 79th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
TreVeyon Henderson in slot 146 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Tyler Batty in Round 6, Pick 28 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
They paid a round early for Garrett Dellinger in No. 236, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Steal is underselling it; Jack Kiser at the 247th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
