You could see the war room lean forward. Cam Skattebo at No. 207 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They are betting Jackson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th overall pick they get a blindside protector, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Isaiah Bond in pick No. 61 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board fumbled Omarion Hampton all the way to No. 79, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A linebacker of that caliber at the 148th pick is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Somehow Cam Skattebo was still sitting there in the Round 6 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Miles Frazier is a better player than Round 7, Pick 20 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Fentrell Cypress II this early at pick 250. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
