There is reaching, and then there is Jase McClellan at slot 127. The Packers jumped the board by 62 and dared it to prove them wrong. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The Suamataia value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get juice off the edge, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Braden Fiske in No. 41 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Xavier Worthy in the Round 2 slot is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Khyree Jackson at pick 88 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kingsley Suamataia at Round 3, Pick 28 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They reached into another round for Jase McClellan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Somehow Jarrian Jones was still sitting there in the 168th pick, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jared Wiley in the 204th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
A premium they did not need to pay, Javontae Jean-Baptiste a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
