The Cowboys torched the value chart for Nick Martin, taking him 71 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
That Belton pick is the receipt they will wave around later. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Omarion Hampton at No. 44 is money in the bank, a running back taken below his worth. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A wild overpay on Joshua Farmer in pick No. 76, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Smael Mondon Jr. at slot 150 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Anthony Belton still on the board at pick 170. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Jacob Parrish at Round 5, Pick 33 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A real head-scratcher, R.J. Mickens in slot 174 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nick Martin this early at the 190th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the Round 6 slot, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Jaydon Blue in Round 7, Pick 31, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
