Every other box got a look, but interior defensive lineman did not. The Texans will head to camp with the same hole they walked in with.
If Tupuola-Fetui pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Colson.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd pick they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
No drama and no debate, Kingsley Suamataia went about where he belonged in pick No. 58. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Roman Wilson in pick 90 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Junior Colson, who had no business lasting to No. 123. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
James Williams in slot 126 is fair value, right on his grade. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Zion Tupuola-Fetui this early at the Round 5 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Cody Schrader at the 239th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had cheaper options than Jake Briningstool at Round 7, Pick 27, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
