There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Texans started one anyway for Gabe Hall, 30 picks ahead of schedule. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Odunze steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 23rd overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
T.J. Tampa at pick No. 58 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Cooper Beebe this early at Round 3, Pick 27. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They let Junior Colson come to them and pounced at No. 123. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took James Williams at par in the Round 4 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Gabe Hall in pick 163 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No edge and no loss on Cody Schrader in slot 239; it is a wash and a sensible one. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jake Briningstool in No. 247 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. The roster fit checks out.
