The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Texans walked right past.
The Bishop pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. Ulofoshio has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with running back chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a premier pass rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T'Vondre Sweat. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Roman Wilson in the 90th overall pick, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Kris Abrams-Draine in slot 123 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They did well to land Sataoa Laumea in the 126th pick, just ahead of his grade. It fills a real need, too.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cole Bishop in pick 163. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Edefuan Ulofoshio in No. 239 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A quiet steal in pick No. 247: Cody Schrader for less than the market said. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
