Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Texans were there to profit. De'Corian Clark, the No. 217 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 239. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will need Logue to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a problem off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Kingsley Suamataia in the 58th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Cooper Beebe at Round 3, Pick 27 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
James Williams at the 123rd overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid sticker price for Kris Abrams-Draine in No. 126, and that is fine. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ty'Ron Hopper at slot 163 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It fills a real need, too.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 239 is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Zion Logue at pick 247 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
