Thirty-one other rooms let Quinshon Judkins slide, and the Texans were the ones holding the card at pick No. 167. Highway robbery. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Walker reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
Malaki Starks at the Round 2 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Deone Walker at pick No. 58 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Tate Ratledge in slot 70 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
By-the-book stuff, Tez Johnson at the 89th pick squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Circle this one: Barrett Carter at No. 125 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 127 is the definition of value, full stop. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Quinshon Judkins in the 167th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Clay Webb at Round 7, Pick 25 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The roster fit checks out.
