Call it larceny. Adonai Mitchell sat on the board until Round 2, Pick 27, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. If Johnson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 23 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. More want than need.
Somehow Adonai Mitchell was still sitting there in the Round 2 slot, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the 85th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Justin Eboigbe. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Theo Johnson in pick No. 127, miles early. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Layden Robinson at the 164th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
