The war room fell hard for Christian Mahogany, and it showed at No. 158: 36 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They punted on running back, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. However the rest shakes out, Marshall Jr. at that price is a win they earned.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. The biggest hole, addressed.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in No. 53. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Blake Fisher in pick No. 95 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They read the board right and Jalen McMillan was the payoff at pick 121. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A slide stopped in the Round 4 slot, with Jason Marshall Jr. worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Christian Mahogany in Round 5, Pick 22 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Landon Jackson at slot 240 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Storm Duck at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
