The Texans went off the board in a big way for Thor Griffith, 54 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
They did well to land Marcus Mbow in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andrew Mukuba. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Jared Wilson in slot 127, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Quincy Riley went about where he belonged in No. 167. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Thor Griffith at Round 7, Pick 25 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
