When a board-topper like Nick Emmanwori slides to pick 55, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not.
Reaching for Hancock left real value on the table behind him. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Good work on the whole, with running back the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Taking Nick Emmanwori in pick 55 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A quiet steal in the 86th pick: Deone Walker for less than the market said. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Tez Johnson in slot 122 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
